I value a holistic and integrative perspective on mental health.
I believe that it is crucial to consider factors such as diet, exercise, sleep, as well as environmental factors such as social connections with family and friends. Mental health is not a state that exists in isolation from these contextual factors, so in my opinion it is essential to address these elements in combination with more conventional strategies. An awareness and acknowledgement of these dimensions allows for more complete and accurate understanding of what is bringing the client in and impacting their life. Sometimes strategies as simple as going for walk in nature everyday can be a strategy that significantly augments the healing process of therapy.
The integration of mindfulness practices.
In our stressful and high paced modern world, I believe that the value of mindfulness practices has only increased with time. Many different avenues of mindfulness exist, but the goal is always similar. To bring the mind to the present moment and slow down the racing thoughts that come from the constant state of busyness that so many of us live our lives in. I believe that finding a mindfulness activity that fits well with a client’s preferences and integrating this as part of therapy can be in incredibly valuable tool to assist the therapy process.
A client centered and uniquely tailored approach.
Everyone is different and as a result everyone is going to need something different from their experience at therapy. I believe acknowledging and openly discussing these unique aspects of each client and then tailoring the experience to best meet their needs is an essential component of helping each client get the most out of their therapy journey. I think this needs to be a collaborative and ongoing conversation with every client in order to ensure that the unique needs and goals of each client are being voiced in therapy and we have agreed on an approach that will best meet these needs and goals.
An evidence-based approach is crucial.
Whichever approach is best suited to a particular client, I believe in the importance of an approach that is support by the current research. I believe we have an obligation to provide our clients with services that will give the best chance at helping our client improve their current struggles, feel satisfied and have a sense that progress is being made, and instill a sense of hope that things will improve over time. My approach to address this is a candid and collaborative conversation with every client about what options are available to support their current struggles in order to find the approach best suited to them.
Person Centred and Authentic
I believe that before any of the more intentional and technical components of therapy can begin, the first and most important goal is to make a genuine human connection. I’m a human being before I’m a therapist and I believe the core of this process is for me and my client to relate and connect to one another on this fundamental level. I aim to provide a safe, warm, and open environment for the sharing that is such an essential part of this process. I believe that therapy should be an experience completely devoid of any judgement and instead aim for a radical acknowledgement of all the elements of human nature and the human condition itself. In short, I would hope that my clients are willing to share anything with me, but I also acknowledge that’s a privilege that I must earn. This must be done by building that genuine connection first to have client feel safe and comfortable to really tell me their unique story.

Registered Provisional Psychologist
I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist who specializes in working with adults toward coping better and finding healthier solutions.
My personal and professional experience have allowed me to understand that struggling with mental health concerns can weigh you down and have deep-rooted impacts in all areas of our lives. I also understand how aspects of life like relationship issues, workplace stress, our environment, and lack of social supports might also negatively contribute to mental health concerns.
I work collaboratively with adults experiencing loneliness, lack of connection, relationships challenges, life or workplace stress, adult bullying and harassment, emotional dysregulation, burnout, unhealthy coping habits, anxiety, depression, and anger management.
My extensive previous experience working in the oil and gas industry before transitioning into a career in mental health has equipped me with a specific understanding of workplace and industry impacts on mental health. I am especially passionate about working with men and women who are navigating tough workplace situations and relationships, job loss, co-worker harassment or bullying, toxic environments, life transitions, separation and divorce, and more.
I am dedicated to establishing a confidential therapeutic environment where you can feel understood, safe and supported, while working through the challenging stuff on your plate.
It takes courage to decide to engage in therapy.
Seeking help is not a weakness and you don’t have to struggle alone. Together, we will explore the situations and areas where you feel stuck; seek deeper understanding of your thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and reactions; make sense of the events in your life; develop new coping skills, and work towards your goals, next steps, or solutions.
Seizing the opportunity to make positive changes, choosing to manage life differently, and learning new tools and techniques can not only be life-changing but also provide clarity and certainty.
Conscious and unconscious core beliefs about self and others, feelings of being “stuck” and not being able to break through trauma or mental blocks can impact opportunities for growth, healing, and change. In therapy, we can tackle these areas so we can move you from feeling stuck to building forward momentum.
Often times, learning the knowledge and applying the knowledge are two different skill sets. Problems that feel too big to tackle can seem daunting and overwhelming, breaking ineffective patterns and developing newer and healthier strategies is achievable. I am here to support you through whatever challenges you are dealing with.
“The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step” Lao Tzu.
You Are Not Alone on Your Mental Health Journey.
My therapeutic approach is eclectic and based on the uniqueness of every individual’s situation and circumstance. Integrating therapeutic techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Self-Compassion, Somatic Therapy, Positive Psychology, Eye Movement Desensitization and Processing Therapy (EMDR), and Trauma Focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (TFACT), we will work together to heal from negative situations and develop effective strategies, coping skills and techniques.
My goal is to collaborate with my clients, meeting them where they are to achieve result-based outcomes. Knowing, identifying, and understanding the strategies and steps to achieve your goals matters and together we can make that happen.
Currently, I am enrolled in a doctoral program where I can stay up to date with research that provides results and understanding on a deeper level of people’s lived experiences. You can expect an authentic, genuine, and honest therapeutic process that helps you delve into vulnerability, and face your fears and challenges from a strengths-based approach.

Ashley Cavers-Paproski
Mental Health Therapist
We are not able to direct bill for Ashley at this time.
I have been working as a social worker for 15 years, and most of my experience has been supporting children, youth, and families within the scope of child intervention.
As a social worker, I have learned how our adverse childhood experiences can have a significant long-term impact on a person’s psychological and physical well-being. Experiences such as abuse, neglect, mental illness, addictions, loss and grief, violence, and intergenerational trauma can create toxic stress within the body. This excessive activation of the stress-response system can lead to lasting wear and tear on the body and the brain. Therefore, I am passionate about supporting children, youth, and adults through a trauma-informed lens. Trauma adaptations manifest in many ways, from hyper-vigilance, relational and attachment issues, low self-esteem, lack of trust, difficulty opening up to others, and dissociation. Trauma typically alters worldviews, resulting in avoidance of places and people leading to isolation. There is no single event that can fully encapsulate the experiences that cause trauma. Each person’s experiences, perceptions, and the impact of the traumatic event(s) are all unique.
I believe all persons are inclusive members of society and as a counsellor, it is essential to empower individuals to meet their potential.
Navigating the justice system, collaborating with agency partners, and advocacy are areas that can be challenging to conquer without support. Larger systems have created oppressed populations through marginalization which has led to privilege and power imbalances within social groups. Anti-oppressive practice is a broad concept that focuses on mitigating power imbalances by giving people the tools to deepen their understanding of how power and privilege work at different levels within society. I resonate with the ideology that the development and facilitation of programs and practices can positively shift societal dynamics in ways that can decrease oppression. #####I value a holistic counselling approach since it focuses on treating the individual as a whole with compassion and in a non-judgmental environment, rather than only addressing specific issues and symptoms. The integrative method of holistic counselling considers the interconnectedness of a person’s physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects. Holistic counselling encourages self-awareness and self-empowerment by exploring various areas of a person’s life, as well as the ability to gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their place in the world. Through observation within my professional experiences, I have recognized that heightened self-awareness enables people to cultivate a stronger sense of purpose and fulfillment. This level of awareness allows them to create knowledgeable decisions, implement appropriate boundaries, and develop healthier relationships. By addressing all these aspects, stress, anxiety, and depression can be reduced and one’s overall quality of life can improve. In addition, holistic counselling can have a positive long-term impact because it equips individuals with strategies that they can apply continuously in various areas of their lives. These strategies can include mindfulness practices, stress management techniques, effective communication strategies, and self-care routines. I have a strong fascination with body-centered therapies such as somatic experiences which focuses on releasing stored tension and trauma from the body. Somatic techniques include breathwork, movement, and body awareness exercises which can explore and heal emotional wounds that are held within the body.
I use a humanistic therapy approach which includes being authentic, open, and genuine, using active listening, and responding with unconditional positive regard to foster self-awareness, self-worth, and personal growth in all individuals.
The types of humanistic therapy that I focus on are client-centered therapy and existential therapy. Using a client-centered approach encourages a person to reflect and clarify their ideas to be able to better understand themselves and then alter their thoughts, feelings, and beliefs. Whereas existential therapy explores a person’s search for meaning in life, especially in the face of uncertainty, conflict, and loss and grief. The objective is to encourage people to view themselves as having the capability to direct their behaviours in a positive light and achieve their desired goals.
I am a person who has experienced my own trauma which has led me to become intrigued with understanding the long-term impact it can have on any person, and ways to promote life-long healing.
This is what led me into the field of social work and now on to the journey of becoming a provisional psychologist. I believe that an important skill to use in all counselling sessions is active listening because it demonstrates empathy and the opportunity to build a strong therapeutic alliance. Every person wants to be heard and understood because it allows for validation, promotes reflection, and an opportunity for change to occur. I feel privileged to be able to be a part of a person sharing their story and I recognize the vulnerability it takes for them to be able to do so. Finally, I strive to demonstrate authenticity, compassion, transparency, and empowerment for all people to be able to develop the skills they need to continue to grow and thrive.

I am an individual & couples therapist specializing in relationships, anxiety, and trauma.
My goal as a therapist is to help my clients to get from a place of feeling stuck, unsatisfied, and unfulfilled into a life of connectedness and meaning. I want to help you break the cycle of ‘I will be happy when…..’ to find joy in the process of self-discovery, positive change, and possibilities.
It takes a lot of bravery to admit that what is happening right now isn’t working and that it’s time to reach out for help. I get it, I have been there too, and I aim to be the person I needed in those moments for my clients. I do not take this responsibility lightly.
If you feel like you know something needs to change, but you are not sure exactly what, I am here to help not only with specialized training but lived personal experience.
The way that we see the world and the way we see ourselves is all based on relationships.
My therapeutic practice is relationship-focused, I truly believe that when we look closely at our depression or anxiety symptoms, they are almost always rooted in relationships – including early childhood relationships. Our relationships shape our world, and part of healing is relating to our individual experiences within these relationships. We have the power to change the narrative and create our own story so that we can move forward feeling healthier and happier.
Many couples come to me because they have lost that connection to each other that they once had; there is a lack of communication and yet a strong desire to get back to the place where they feel that familiar spark. My approach to relationship repair is heavily influenced by the Gottman Institute and includes effective communication, boundary setting, and mindfulness. Together we can repair the relationship fractures and get you back on the same page if that is your goal.
I believe in the tools I use as a therapist because they get to the root cause of the problem and create lasting change.
My approach is person-centred and unique to each individual and the best hopes for their life and relationships. I am certified in various modalities, including The Gottman Method, which has nearly 40 years of research in relationship longevity. My other qualifications include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), and EMDR, which effectively treat depression, anxiety and trauma.
I view therapy as a collaborative and holistic process; together, we get to the root of the problem, what is driving it, and what will be the most effective way to create change. Helping people overcome their depression, anxiety, and trauma is what I am meant to do; even from a young age, I have been where people go to feel understood and supported.
You don’t need to struggle alone, I am here to offer you the person-centred support you need, with a gentle dose of humour.
My office is a safe, non-judgmental space for my clients to speak freely and explore even their darkest thoughts and beliefs. I do not want to lead the therapeutic process, I want to be the flashlight that guides the way. I believe that every person has the strength within themselves to heal and create the change they are looking for. I promise to offer flexible, honest, and approachable support, so my clients feel comfortable as they navigate their healing journey.
I want to help build better communities by elevating each member within them.

I am a therapist who specializes in treating adults who have experienced trauma, depression, anxiety, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and life challenges.
Life can be contradictory as it’s where we find our passion, meaning, and joy, yet through living we also experience our greatest sorrows. Early in my life, I was touched by trauma that is still felt to this day. Unfortunately, this is not unique as we all experience negative events that echo through our lives. Family bonds, friendships, relationships, and most importantly feelings toward oneself are often tested. Dealing with these feelings on our own may give us a sense of strength, however, true strength is facing and overcoming the feelings that are causing pain, anger, hurt, etc.
Let’s work together to help you reach your goals and create an environment that
empowers you to reclaim your life. If we are sick, we take steps to heal ourselves. If we break a bone, we take steps to heal ourselves. If we scrape a knee, we take steps to heal ourselves. However, too often we don’t address the pain others can’t see. Let’s take the first step together in learning how to heal. Depending on your needs we may use any of the following to facilitate your healing journey: - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) - Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) - Eye Movement Desensitization - Reprocessing (EMDR) - Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) - Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) - Psychodynamic - Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) - Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT) -Gottman Method I strongly believe that the connection I build with my clients allows them to be able to flourish what they already have within. Beyond therapeutic approaches, the relationship between you and your therapist is crucial. When thinking of this relationship, empathy, trust, and compassion come to mind. You are the expert on your own life and only through a safe and open environment can we identify and develop the strengths you’ll need to reclaim your confidence, optimism, and resilience.

Aleksandra Gavric
Registered Provisional Psychologist
I am a therapist specializing in treating individuals who have experienced complex trauma resulting from toxic relationships, dysfunctional family systems, and adverse social environments.
When we experience complex trauma, it can leave lasting effects on our lives that can be difficult to navigate on our own. It can impact the way we perceive ourselves, our relationships with others, and even our ability to regulate our emotions. This can result in patterns of behaviour that may feel out of our control. However, through therapy, we can begin to unpack these patterns and gain a better understanding of how they developed. By exploring the root causes of these patterns, we can interrupt the cycle and create new, healthier ways of relating to ourselves and others.
Within every complex trauma survivor, there is a unique strength and resiliency that we can draw from to overcome challenges. Regardless of your background, education, or past experiences, achieving your relationship and life goals is achievable. Resilience is a natural human quality that is present within each of us, and therapy provides a space to access this inner strength, learn new tools and coping strategies, and make progress toward the life you desire.
I am here to work with you toward achieving your goals and freeing yourself from the impacts of trauma.
Individuals who have experienced complex trauma often develop coping mechanisms such as caretaking and people-pleasing behaviours, leading to a tendency to feel overly responsible for the emotions of others. This can lead to a lack of boundaries, fear of conflict, negative self-talk, and intense feelings of shame and guilt.
As a result, many individuals who seek therapy with me have experienced trauma that has resulted in symptoms such as burnout, mood swings, emotional dysregulation, hypervigilance, and low self-esteem. My goal is to help clients develop new perspectives and actively challenge these patterns, encouraging them to express experiences that they may have previously kept hidden. Ultimately, my aim is to support clients in discovering more fulfilling and functional ways of living in the world.
The first step in the healing process is to prioritize one’s own needs and take the necessary steps to establish a more positive and nourishing relationship with oneself.
Rebuilding a relationship with oneself is a crucial step for individuals who have experienced complex trauma. By fostering self-acceptance, self-care, and self-trust, we can establish healthy boundaries, assert our needs, and form fulfilling relationships. I aspire to help my clients achieve their individual goals while gaining a more profound understanding of themselves and creating stronger, more authentic connections with others.
To accomplish this, I frequently integrate techniques and insights from a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Mindfulness, Self-Compassion, and Somatic therapy, as well as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Processing Therapy (EMDR). By using these modalities, I can develop practical and effective strategies for addressing concerns such as anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma, and relationship issues, while also exploring clients’ inner worlds in a supportive and safe environment.
I place great importance on building connections with each of my clients, leveraging these connections to create a safe environment.
During a therapy session, my goal is to establish a secure and accepting space where clients feel comfortable sharing their experiences and emotions. I strive to create a supportive environment where clients feel heard and understood, knowing I am here to assist them in their journey of healing and growth. All that is needed is a willingness to progress and a small seed of desire for change. I value authenticity and openness and promise to provide a non-judgmental environment.
A genuine connection between the client and therapist is one of the most vital components of successful therapy.

I care about connecting deeply with my clients.
After navigating through my own mental health challenges, I can see how much someone’s life can be changed by facing their struggles head-on.
I also understand the uncertainty and fear that comes with reaching out for help, I felt that way too, but I also knew I had come to the point where I had to do the work to improve my life. Now, here I am, a practicum student working with others to create the change they want in their lives!
To me, therapy is about connection and the experience of being understood, authentic, and accepted for being exactly who you are. When someone feels seen and understood, that is where the magic happens. My goal is to help others find this ease within themselves and the confidence to navigate the world as their authentic selves.
My goal is to help you gain clarity about who you are and what you want.
I want to work with my clients to feel a sense of lightness again, so often, when we struggle, everything feels dark, heavy, and uncertain. When we begin the work of self-exploration and acceptance, we begin to see possibilities that were never there before.
When we have insights into who we are and how our struggles have impacted us, we can start seeing a way forward. We can accept where we are and take responsibility for moving forward; in fact, there is newfound motivation to create change.
I take a relational approach to therapy that includes a deep exploration of the Self.
I have always been drawn to the exploration of Self and how we accept and express who we are within relationships and our environment. My approach to therapy is person-centred, with an existential lens, and I use a lot of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) in my work with clients. ACT is all about observing what arises without judgement, and getting a little distance from distressing thoughts and feelings so that we can engage in life in ways that are value-aligned, ways that matter to us. It is about being the person you want to be and living the life you want, regardless of suffering; we learn to respond flexibly to what comes up, and take our challenges/suffering along for the ride so that life becomes more rich instead of more restrictive. My work is also quite emotion-focused, and I have an emotion-focused and solution-focused lens in my work with couples.
I am particularly skilled in working with anxiety and related challenges.
We all have the ability to edit our stories and author our lives in a way that feels authentic to us and helps us live in alignment with our values. Even when faced with extreme anxiety or despair, or whatever challenge you are facing, we can always find choice, meaning and purpose.
We can create contentment, simplicity, and ease even through our struggles.
All of us are walking through life living a human experience, we experience all of life’s emotions, from intense pleasure to immeasurable and unavoidable pain. We all share this experience together.
When we fully embrace this truth and fully accept who we are we can find contentment and peace. When I was able to connect more deeply with my true nature and learned to respond more flexibly to distress, I felt vibrant again, like the clouds began to part; I took my life back. I want this for my clients!
My office will always be a place where you can feel comfortable being exactly who you are; there is no judgment here; I will meet you where you are at, with acceptance, and compassionately challenge you to grow. I believe that creating an environment full of compassion, trust, and a bit of fun leads to tremendous change.
Whether you are wanting to do some skill-building and personal growth, or you are quite unwell and facing challenges in functioning, I am here for you. I look forward to working with you, exploring who you are and the life you want, and witnessing you taking your life back.

Lori-Ann Huot
I am a compassionate and experienced grief therapist, dedicated to working through and fostering understanding of the complexities of loss with clients.
I have studied for years under the world-renowned death educator, author, and grief counsellor, Dr. Alan Wolfelt. My experience as a grief specialist spans over a decade where I have supported clients experiencing a broad range of grief and loss experiences including death/loss of life, terminal illness, suicide loss, loss of a child, loss of a baby, miscarriage, stillbirth, infertility, loss of a pet, relationship loss, divorce or separation, loss of a job, loss of identity, loss of purpose, and more.
I work with individuals and couples grieving the loss of a loved one or experiencing other profound losses, and I support and guide them through their grief.
Whether grieving the death of a loved one, grieving a stigmatized loss (suicide or miscarriage/stillbirth) or less recognized losses (loss of a pet, relationship loss or job loss), I’m committed to helping my clients integrate their losses into their lives, facilitating a path forward to lead full, purposeful lives.
My approach acknowledges the importance of challenging societal norms and promoting a more inclusive and understanding atmosphere for grief.
I provide a safe, non-judgemental and compassionate space for clients to explore their experience with loss and their resulting bereavement. Using a client-centered companioning approach, I help my clients better understand their grief, find meaningful ways to mourn and inspire healing while changing and challenging many of the societal stigmas, beliefs and expectations that influence grief.
My journey in grief counseling is rooted in my own personal experiences.
After losing my mother suddenly at the age of 32 and navigating the loss of two baby girls through miscarriage, I was led to find purpose in my pain by starting my journey to becoming a grief counsellor. This first-hand experience with grief gives me a unique perspective and a deep level of empathy and understanding, which can be invaluable when helping my clients work through their own grief.
Specialty training and a diverse background.
I am a graduate of the Death & Grief Studies Program through the Center for Loss & Life Transition in Fort Collins, Colorado and have been trained and mentored by world-renowned grief expert Dr. Alan Wolfelt. This specialty training has guided me over my 12 years of dedicated experience guiding hundreds of clients through the intricate process of healing from loss.
In addition to working with Onyx in a private practice setting, I am also the Grief & Bereavement Navigator with the Hospice Society of Camrose & District, offering counselling to those impacted by grief of end of life or death of loved one.

Mental Health Therapist

I work with youth, teens, and parents navigating challenging times in their kids’ lives. I also work with adults living with mental health challenges and life stressors.
Working in mental health and specifically with youth/teens, has always felt like my calling. I started my work in mental health as a community support worker for The Cridge Centre for the Family (BC) during my undergraduate degree in Sociology/Psychology. I then started working with adults as an addiction outreach worker for the vulnerable unhoused community in downtown Victoria. From there, I worked with children and youth with mental health challenges at Victoria General Hospital, Queen Alexandra Hospital as a child youth counsellor (both in BC) and as an addictions counsellor at Alberta Hospital Edmonton. I also spent time volunteering as a crisis responder at Kids Help Line, dealing with active suicidal ideation and mental health crises.
I often include parents in treatment because I believe in the collectiveness of the family and in creating an environment that allows everyone to thrive. So many parents are unsure of how to work with their children and don’t understand why their child is suffering the way they are. There can be a lot of guilt and anxiety when we don’t have the tools we need to navigate difficult situations. Many parents also feel that they are unable to take time for themselves and feel overwhelmed with doubt. My goal is to work with families so that everyone feels that their needs are being heard and that they feel supported as we create change.
My passion for counselling extends to working with adults who are living with mental health challenges, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, ADHD, OCD, substance use concerns, personality disorders, and trauma. From my extensive experience of counselling adults in various environments – homeless shelters, hospitals, homes, and offices – I have a diverse understanding of the way environments impacts our emotions, communication styles, attachments, and behaviours.
I want to help my clients understand their struggles and learn new coping techniques.
My favourite part of this job is helping clients understand what is going on for them in a deeper way so we can get down to the root of the problem. Being a teenager now is more difficult than it has ever been. The pressures of school, friends, family, and social media can be overwhelming. When we become overwhelmed by our emotions without having the proper tools to manage them, we can turn to maladaptive coping techniques such as substance use, self-harming, and isolation. This is especially true for youth and teens who are doing their best to navigate these incredible pressures.
My goal is to help my clients understand their struggles and gain control over their emotional responses and behaviour. Having the ability to know your emotions and utilize healthy coping techniques allows you to move through life and get back to your typical activities without feeling restricted by mental health challenges. It also opens the lines of communication between parents who are striving for connection and youth/teens who want to establish their independence.
I use a person-centred approach to meet my clients where they are and help them get where they want to go.
So often, my clients come to me with a feeling of being stuck or isolated; they have lost hope that things can get better. Teenagers, like everyone else, want nothing more than to be understood, accepted, and to be freed from their stress. They want to feel a sense of belonging. Parents want to know their child is safe so they can put down their worries and know that they are making the right choices for their kids.
My approach to therapy is person-centred and free from judgment, blame, or shame. All emotions and all experiences are welcome here. Together we will look at the barriers you are facing now and create strategies to overcome them so you can create new and exciting goals for yourself and your family.
Let’s work together to help you reach your goals and feel like yourself again.
Whether you are a youth/teen, an adult, or a parent reading this, I want you to know you are not alone. Many people suffer in isolation, believing their experience is abnormal and no one will understand them. I promise you what you are experiencing is normal, and I do understand. Let’s work together to create the change you want and need in your life.

Fillip Lukic
Master’s Student

I am a practicum student completing my work term at Onyx, and I work primarily with youth (16+) and young adults.
I am currently working towards finishing a graduate program with a Masters degree in counselling psychology. My interest in this career path had started by volunteering at a local counselling center. This experience has shown me how physical, psychological, and social harm from mental health issues can manifest in an individual’s life. Although, through the assistance and guidance of helping professionals, people can work to manage and overcome the issues that they face. The possibility of assisting a client to conquer the challenges they face and reach the goals they set for themselves is what has fostered my passion for this field.
I believe in a client-centered, collaborative, and strength based approach.
This perspective trusts the client as the ultimate decision maker and architect of their own lives. Client-centered therapy removes the clinician as the expert, and recognizes the client as the greatest authority as active agents of personal change. Additionally, this approach focuses on the human relationship as the primary medium through which therapeutic change and growth can be achieved. While the direction of the journey is chosen by the client, the path toward progress should be walked together with the support of the counsellor. Finally, I believe that individuals inherently possess the tools and knowledge of themselves to tackle the issues in front of them.
Openness, Respect, Curiosity, and Accountability
The experience of counselling is quite unique, with multiple different perspectives, values, and cultural experiences meeting together between individuals. I believe this requires a counsellor to embrace openness of diversity and welcome all other ideas and insights beyond their own. Respect must be the foundation of the relationship to support a meaningful interaction and expand our limitations of understanding another person’s experience. A counsellor should be curious in their non-judgmental exploration of another individual and embrace the position of not-knowing. Finally, I view accountability as the highest priority, there must be an acceptance of responsibility for our actions as counsellors. This translates to our ability to be accountable for our privileges and comforts that affect our ability to practice with people of all walks of life.
I work to support teenagers and young adults.
This stage of life can be extremely intense for many individuals, accompanied by major changes in autonomy and identity. There are also exceptional external pressures such as social media, fear of world events, peer pressure, self-esteem issues, and bullying. With all of these influences impacting a person, challenges such as feelings of hopelessness, sadness, depression, anger, and anxiousness can begin to overwhelm. I work with people to learn coping skills, understand distressing thoughts and emotions, and achieve growth in self-worth and self-compassion. I support clients to work towards achieving the goals that they create for themselves. Finally, I provide a safe and non-judgmental space for individual’s that feel they do not have an outlet to emotionally express themselves.

I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist who works with adults and couples to navigate life and relationship challenges.
I understand that the thought of starting therapy can stir feelings of anxiousness, especially if you are starting your therapeutic journey for the first time or have navigated therapy before and need to switch counsellors. It is understandable that you would be wary about not knowing what to expect, whether the fit with your therapist will be there, or if this time around will be effective or beneficial. These feelings are valid and normal, and I am honoured to be a part of your mental health journey, should you feel like I am a good fit for you and your mental health needs.
Whatever your starting point is, I will meet you where you are at and we will map out a plan for therapy to meet your mental health goals. If you feel like something needs to change but aren’t sure what that is, I will help you explore and navigate this uncertain time in your life. Together, we will navigate your mental health and well-being at your pace and comfort level.
I work specifically with adults and couples who are navigating concerns which are impacting their mental health and well-being including anger, stress, unhealthy coping habits, lack of boundaries, divorce or separation, self-harm, anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, improving communication, relational conflicts, etc.
“All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us” – J. R. R. Tolkien.
I encourage my clients to show up as themselves and not who they think they need to be. We will be learning and uncovering things together, and this is easier to do when you and I are both authentic to who we are. Therapy can be uncomfortable and sometimes messy, but I believe the short-term discomfort is worth it for the long-term benefits. #####I incorporate an eclectic style to therapy and will utilize various therapeutic interventions tailored to your needs. I am trained in several therapeutic approaches including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), narrative therapy, and the Gottman Method. I will also integrate techniques such as strength-based, person-centered, and solution-focused therapy into our sessions.
I don’t believe here is a one size fits all approach to therapy. Therefore, we will organize your needs and goals, and choose the most effective therapeutic options for you.
I am a lifelong learner and continue to improve my knowledge, experience, and skills through additional training, keeping up with research, and consulting with my colleagues and supervisor. I am committed to bringing my best self as a therapist into the room with you.
I believe that small intentional changes can make a difference and can lead to better outcomes over time.
I am committed to offering a safe, non-judgmental, and supportive environment for my clients to be open and explore vulnerable issues, facilitate self-awareness, heal from past emotional wounds, establish new and healthier coping skills and strategies, overcome challenges, and improve their overall mental health and well-being.
My personal and professional experiences and witnessing improvements in others has facilitated my deep interest in helping and supporting others in this field. My goal for my clients is to enhance their growth towards their best selves and living their best lives. It is a privilege to walk alongside you on this therapeutic journey and to witness your progress.

Together we will enhance your true strengths so you can be your authentic self and thrive!
I am a Registered Social Worker with a Master of Social Work degree with a Clinical Specialization. I primarily work with individual adults (18+) and youth (10+) clients.
I have experience with working with diverse populations who are experiencing mental wellness concerns such as anxiety, depression, occupational stress, life transitions, trauma, intergenerational trauma, emotional regulation, grief, and loss, neurodivergence (ADHD) and more. My specialities are working with frontline staff, women with neurodivergence and youth ages 18-25.
My 20 years of experience working with marginalized populations in various public sector areas such as Children’s Services, Income Support as well as for First Nations Agencies helps me understand that each persons’ experiences are unique. It is important for me to destigmatize access to mental health supports, as no one is immune from mental injury.
It is near and dear to my heart to working with people who are neurodivergent.
Raised by a parent with significant mental illness and having navigated my own experiences with mental health challenges and neurodivergence, I deeply understand the complexities and impacts of mental health. As a neurodivergent person myself, I can understand the guilt and shame one can feel from years of trying to fit into a neurotypical world. My experiences allow me to facilitate the therapeutic support that fits each person’s unique experiences.
I love engaging with youth and help them to see their potential.
My professional and volunteer experience has contributed to a passion for working with youth 18-25. I understand the struggles they face, especially post pandemic. In my practice, the challenges that I have seen young adults face include career decisions, academic struggles in post secondary, stress, shame, guilt and feelings of loss with no sense of belonging.
I understand that adults face various challenges throughout their lifetime. This is the human experience. I walk alongside so you do not have to face them alone. I have worked with countless adults on navigating life transitions associated with parenting, family dynamics, grief and loss.
I provide a safe, secure space for you to explore your feelings.
I understand that each person and their journey is unique, therefore I believe in a client centered integrative approach to therapy. To fit the distinct needs of each of my clients, I employ different modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), with a trauma informed, strengths-based lens.
I understand that everyone’s experiences are different, and I draw from both my personal and professional background, along with years of formal education, to address the effects of trauma. I strive to shift the narrative from one of deficit to one of resilience. I’m here to support you in exploring your mental health journey and facilitate your healing process.

I specialize in helping people facing challenging life transitions, relationship issues, anxiety, depression, abuse, grief, and trauma.
I have over 13 years of experience working in clinical and community settings, and I prioritize trauma-informed care and cultural understanding in my approach. I am deeply committed to serving vulnerable populations and those who have been affected by trauma, marginalization, and oppression. I support a wide range of individuals, including younger and older adults, who have complex needs and mental health challenges.
I often work with individuals and couples who know they need to create change in their lives because their current approach is no longer working for them, yet they feel unsure of the next step. Big emotions such as overwhelm, loss, hurt, and distress are often in the way of moving forward. To me, therapy is the first step toward achieving this change, and I support my clients in transitioning to the next phase of their lives. I believe in my clients and empower them to take control of their lives and their journey.
I bring a unique perspective that emphasizes social justice, attachment, and solution-focused care.
During my time working within the healthcare system and senior programs, I witnessed a significant amount of discrimination and prejudice. Unfortunately, many marginalized groups face these challenges, especially when it comes to mental health concerns. I realized that I could have a greater impact by working in private practice and assisting individuals in meeting their psychosocial and spiritual needs in their daily lives, beyond crisis management.
I wanted to offer greater psychosocial support and structure to individuals who are feeling overwhelmed by multiple stressful situations without having anyone to rely on or resources to help them cope. My goal is to help individuals overcome their obstacles by recognizing their own strengths and unique abilities while also providing additional tools and coping mechanisms to achieve the life they have always envisioned for themselves.
My approach is grounded in compassion, respect, and collaboration.
I provide a holistic and personalized approach to therapy, utilizing various modalities such as: - Narrative Practice - Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT) - Solution-focused Therapy.
I believe that every person has a unique story that deserves to be fully heard and understood.
My attachment-based approach acknowledges that no person is an island, but rather shaped by their relationships with family and community, which also influences how they move through the world. As we work together, I strive to fully understand my clients and create a safe space where they can share their experiences with me.
